No. 316 Squadron - Flying Spitfires in 1942


The squadron started to fly Spitfires in October 1941. Above F/O Sawicz and two unknown posing in front on SZ-K, AB278, delivered to the unit late December 13, 1941. Below, group of ground personnel flocked over the same aircraft.


Probably Northolt, early 1942. The squadron's adjutant addressing the unit. Standing right is S/Ldr Gabszewicz. Needs info.

On April 12, this Spitfire SZ-E, AD130, piloted by P/O Buchwald, was shot down over France. Just two days before, flying that aircraft, F/O Dec damaged a FW190. Below, colour profile courtesy of Robert Grudzien.
