(N/R)) airborne Castle Camps 2040 hrs. and after ten minutes decided to
return to base owing technical trouble. Landed base 2102 hrs.

airborne Castle Camps 2027 hrs. Crossed out at 2040 hrs. Adleburgh 8,000
ft. and crossed the enemy coast 2107 hrs. Egmond 8, 000 ft. On Patrol at
2132 hrs and patrolled 1500/3, 000 ft. At 2201 hrs saw an aircraft coned
by s/ls and fired on by light flak in the Rheine area. At 2206 hrs.
fighter experienced a few bursts of light flak and at 2216 hrs.

lighting seen. 2235 hrs. left patrol and crossed out ad 23 hrs. Egmond.

Heatley (N/R)) airborne Castle Camps 2024 Crossed out ad 2040 hrs.
S. of Sonthwold at 12, 000 ft. and the enemy coast 2103 hrs. Egmond.
At 2125 hrs. observed vapor trails, well above from East to West. On
patrol at 2135 hrs. and patrolled at 10/15,000 ft uneventfully until
2230 hrs. Crossed out 2300 hrs. Egmond at
10,000 ft. at 2305 hrs. when approximately 264° Egmond 22 miles I heard
an aircraft call sign Rudolph 35 saying " I have been hit and will
not be to make enough height to bale out". The call sign was then
repeated there times and then faded out. Six minutes later Rudolph 35
was heard again to say "I am still flying but know how long I can
make it", then complete silence. Crossed in at 2340 hrs. S. of
Sonthwold 9,000 ft and landed base 0001 hrs.
Weather: - 10/10 cloud at 6/7, 000 ft. Clear and bright moonlight above.

(N/R)) airborne Castle Camps 2035 hrs. Crossed out 2055 hrs. Lowestoft
13,000 ft. In at 2140 hrs. Juist 13,000 ft. ranching patrol . at 2148
hrs. when approx. 3 miles N. W. of Noldoonoy at
13,000 ft. obtained contact at 4 miles range 60° starboard and above, followed
through hard turns to starboard and closed to 2,000 ft. and obtained
fleeting visual as target hard port and dived down almost vertically ahead
of Mosquito, contact was thon lost. Pilot was unable to identify
definitely but thinks that the aircraft was a Ju-188. Left patrol at
2255 hrs. and set course for base from position 53° 50 N. 07° 30
NS. At 2305 hrs. (unreadable)
contact 1000 ft. dead astern but took evasive action and did not
convert. At 250 hrs. a contact was obtained at 5 miles range 60 port at
11,000 ft height closed and identified as Mosquito. Crossed in 23 59
hrs. Dowesdtoft and landed base 0020 hrs.
